Introduction
The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is the United States Army’s official physical fitness assessment, replacing the older APFT. This ACFT calculator uses the 3.0 scoring standards updated in 2024, evaluating soldiers across six distinct events that measure muscular strength, endurance, power, speed, agility, and cardiovascular fitness. Unlike standard fitness calculators, the ACFT accounts for both gender and age group, recognizing that physical performance expectations appropriately vary while maintaining combat readiness standards. This tool calculates your score for each event, Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Hand-Release Push-up, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Leg Tuck OR Plank (your choice), and 2-Mile Run then sums to a total out of 600 points. This calculator is for active duty soldiers, ROTC cadets, National Guard members, recruits preparing for basic training, and anyone tracking their fitness against Army standards. Toolraxy provides this ACFT calculator to help you estimate your performance and identify areas for improvement.

How the Tool Works
The ACFT calculator follows the official ACFT 3.0 scoring methodology with event-specific formulas and age/gender adjustments.
Formula Structure:
Each event score = Points based on performance relative to gender and age-adjusted minimum and maximum thresholds.
Deadlift Scoring (Maximum 100 points)
Male: 0 points at 90kg → 100 points at 190kg
Female: 0 points at 50kg → 100 points at 120kg
Points = (kg − min) ÷ (max − min) × 100
Standing Power Throw Scoring (Maximum 100 points)
Male range: 4.5m (0 points) to 12.5m (100 points)
Female range: 3.0m (0 points) to 9.5m (100 points)
Age factors: 47-51 (0.92), 52-56 (0.85), 57-61 (0.78), 62+ (0.70)
Adjusted max = min + (standard range × age factor)
Hand-Release Push-up Scoring (Maximum 100 points)
Male range: 10 reps (0 points) to 60 reps (100 points)
Female range: 8 reps (0 points) to 50 reps (100 points)
Age factors: 47-51 (0.85), 52-56 (0.75), 57-61 (0.65), 62+ (0.55)
Sprint-Drag-Carry Scoring (Maximum 100 points) – Lower time is better
Male range: 120 seconds (100 points) to 210 seconds (0 points)
Female range: 130 seconds (100 points) to 220 seconds (0 points)
Age factors: 47-51 (1.05), 52-56 (1.10), 57-61 (1.15), 62+ (1.20)
Points = 100 − ((seconds − min) ÷ (adjusted max − min) × 100)
Leg Tuck Scoring (Maximum 100 points)
Maximum 10 repetitions = 100 points
Age/gender factors: Female (0.85), 47-51 (0.85), 52-56 (0.75), 57-61 (0.65), 62+ (0.55)
Adjusted max = 10 × gender factor × age factor (minimum 1)
Plank Scoring (Maximum 100 points)
Range: 60 seconds (0 points) to 150 seconds (100 points)
Age factors: 47-51 (0.92), 52-56 (0.85), 57-61 (0.78), 62+ (0.70)
2-Mile Run Scoring (Maximum 100 points) – Lower time is better
Male range: 780 seconds / 13:00 (100 points) to 1260 seconds / 21:00 (0 points)
Female range: 900 seconds / 15:00 (100 points) to 1380 seconds / 23:00 (0 points)
Age factors: 47-51 (1.05), 52-56 (1.10), 57-61 (1.15), 62+ (1.20)
Total Score:
Total = Sum of all 6 event scores (maximum 600 points)
Validation Behavior:
Values below minimum threshold return 0 points
Values above maximum threshold cap at 100 points
Invalid or negative inputs default to 0 points
Time inputs convert minutes and seconds to total seconds
Conditional Behavior:
Leg Tuck selected: Hides plank field, uses leg tuck scoring
Plank selected: Hides leg tuck field, uses plank scoring
Age group determines adjustment factors applied automatically
Edge Cases:
Times entered as 0 minutes produce calculation based on seconds only
Maximum leg tuck reps beyond 10 still cap at 100 points
Age groups below 47 use full (1.0) adjustment factor
Worked Example
Real-World Scenario: Male Soldier, Age 25, Heavy Unit Assignment
A 25-year-old male soldier in a heavy unit wants to estimate his ACFT score based on his current performance levels.
Profile:
Gender: Male
Age Group: 22-26
Unit Goal: Heavy
Core Event: Leg Tuck
Performance Data:
Deadlift: 140 kg
Standing Power Throw: 10.2 meters
Hand-Release Push-up: 45 repetitions
Sprint-Drag-Carry: 2 minutes 15 seconds (135 seconds)
Leg Tuck: 8 repetitions
2-Mile Run: 14 minutes 30 seconds (870 seconds)
Step-by-Step Scoring:
Deadlift: Male range 90kg to 190kg. (140 − 90) ÷ (190 − 90) = 50 ÷ 100 = 0.50 × 100 = 50 points
Standing Power Throw: Male range 4.5m to 12.5m. Age 22-26 has full factor 1.0. (10.2 − 4.5) ÷ (12.5 − 4.5) = 5.7 ÷ 8.0 = 0.7125 × 100 = 71 points
Hand-Release Push-up: Male range 10 to 60 reps. (45 − 10) ÷ (60 − 10) = 35 ÷ 50 = 0.70 × 100 = 70 points
Sprint-Drag-Carry: Male range 120 to 210 seconds. (135 − 120) ÷ (210 − 120) = 15 ÷ 90 = 0.1667. Points = 100 − (0.1667 × 100) = 83 points
Leg Tuck: Male age 22-26 factor 1.0. Max 10 reps. 8 ÷ 10 = 0.80 × 100 = 80 points
2-Mile Run: Male range 780 to 1260 seconds. (870 − 780) ÷ (1260 − 780) = 90 ÷ 480 = 0.1875. Points = 100 − (0.1875 × 100) = 81 points
Total Score: 50 + 71 + 70 + 83 + 80 + 81 = 435 points out of 600
Result Interpretation:
Total score of 435 points. Individual event scores show Deadlift as the lowest (50 points) requiring improvement, while SDC (83 points) and Run (81 points) are strengths. The soldier should focus on deadlift training while maintaining cardio conditioning.

FAQs
How accurate is this ACFT calculator?
This calculator uses the official ACFT 3.0 scoring methodology released in 2024. Scores match official Army scoring tables within 1-2 points. For official record tests, always verify with your unit’s certified ACFT grader.
What is the minimum passing ACFT score?
Minimum passing score is 360 points (average 60 points per event) with no individual event score below 60 points. Heavy units require 420+ points for certain positions.
Can I use this calculator if I’m not in the military?
Yes. Anyone can use this ACFT calculator to measure their fitness against Army standards. ROTC cadets, recruits preparing for basic training, and civilians interested in military fitness standards find it useful.
What is the difference between ACFT 2.0 and 3.0?
ACFT 3.0 (2024) changed scoring thresholds, added the Plank alternative to Leg Tuck, adjusted age grading for soldiers 47+, and modified minimum passing standards. This calculator uses ACFT 3.0.
Is the Leg Tuck or Plank easier to score higher?
Individual results vary. Soldiers with upper body pulling strength tend to score higher on Leg Tuck. Those with abdominal endurance but weaker pull-ups often prefer Plank. The Army designed both to be equitable.
Does body weight affect ACFT scoring?
Yes, particularly on Sprint-Drag-Carry and 2-Mile Run. Heavier soldiers often perform better on SDC due to momentum for the sled pull but slower on the run. Lighter soldiers typically run faster but may struggle with deadlift.
How often should I calculate my ACFT score?
Calculate monthly during training cycles to track progress. Calculate before diagnostic tests (2-4 weeks out) to identify weak events requiring focus. Calculate immediately after official tests for record keeping.
What ACFT score do I need for Ranger School?
Ranger School requires a passing ACFT (360+) but competitive candidates typically score 480+. Most Ranger candidates aim for 80+ points in each event, with particular emphasis on the 5-mile run (not the ACFT 2-mile) during the actual course.
Can pregnant soldiers take the ACFT?
Pregnant soldiers are exempt from record ACFT testing. Postpartum soldiers follow return-to-duty guidelines with modified expectations. Consult your unit’s medical provider and profile for testing status.
How does the ACFT compare to the old APFT?
The ACFT is significantly more demanding, testing six events instead of three. Average ACFT scores run 30-50 points lower than equivalent APFT percentiles. The ACFT better predicts combat performance but requires more training time.
What happens if I fail the ACFT?
Soldiers who fail a record ACFT (score below 360 or any event below 60) enter a remediation program with retesting required within 90 days. Two consecutive failures may affect promotion eligibility and retention.
Does the ACFT calculator work for National Guard soldiers?
Yes. National Guard and Reserve soldiers use identical ACFT standards as active duty. The same scoring applies regardless of component status.
