The calculator uses a standard, logical algorithm for date difference:
Basic Subtraction: It starts by subtracting the day, month, and year of the start date from the end date.
Handling Negative Days: If the end day is smaller than the start day (e.g., from March 25th to April 10th), it “borrows” a month from the end date. It adds the number of days from that previous month to the end day, then adjusts the month count down by one.
Handling Negative Months: Similarly, if the end month is smaller than the start month, it borrows a year, adding 12 months to the end month and reducing the end year by one.
Total Units: The total days are calculated as the precise difference in milliseconds, converted to days. This total is then divided to find total weeks and multiplied to find total hours. Total months are derived from the year/month/day result.
