The CHA₂DS₂-VASc score is the most widely used clinical tool for assessing stroke risk in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Developed as an extension of the original CHADS₂ score, it incorporates additional risk factors to improve stroke risk stratification and guide anticoagulation decisions.
